The correct name of Puerto banus is Puerto Jose Banus it is in the area of Nueva Andalucia a suburb of Marbella.
The construction was carried out by a local property developer by the name of Jose Banus who designed and built the luxury marina and shopping centre.
Puerto Banus has one of the largest for entertainment on the Costa del Sol it has over 6 million visitors every year it is the place to be seen mixing with the rich and famous.
The construction is in typical traditional Mediterranean style it has rows of designer shops, restaurants and bars set around one of the richest marinas in the world you will see a range of top luxury yachts moored in the port and Ferraris, Rolls Royces, Lamborghinis and Mercedes Benz parked next to the moorings.
Puerto Banus is known as the playground for the rich and famous with top beaches and a very special night life that continues 24 hours you can party the night away in clubs such as La Sala, Aqua Mist, Tibu Banus, Ocean Club Marbella, Babilonia, Pangea, Portside and Route 66 and in the day time you can continue the party at places like

In Puerto Banus you will find the top hotels on the Costa del Sol in 1966 Prince Alfonso de Hohenlohe visited the area and asked an architect by the name of Noldi Schreck who was the designer of Beverly Hills in the USA to construct a new hotel called Hotel Mabella Club.
Jose Banus the designer of Puerto banus meet with Noldi Schreck and he explained that Puerto Banus was not a place for high storey hotels and that it would be more suited to an Andalucian village looking hotel built on only 2 floors.
In May 1970 Puerto Banus was opened its guest included The Aga Khan, Roman Polanski, Dr. Christian Barnard, Hugh Hefner and Prince Rainier and Princess Grace of Monaco the entertainment for the night included a young man known as Julio Iglesias.

Puerto Banus is situated 65Kms from Malaga airport it takes approximately 55 minutes to reach the marina by car.
